Aligning with Syracuse University's vision for “Scholarship in Action” U. Encounter actively supports the University's mission and vision by providing funding for programs that allow for students, artists, performers, and/or field professionals to interact with another. The interactions can be in the form of master classes, talk-back sessions, mini-workshops or residencies, or any forum that brings the students in direct contact with an artist/performer. In addition, U. Encounter will connect to academic department programs that already have a speaker or performer scheduled, but may need additional funding for an out-of-class program. By partnering with the various schools and colleges, U. Encounter will exemplify the meaning of “Scholarship in Action” and further strengthen the bond between The Division of Student Affairs and Academic Affairs.
